“It is not the critic who counts. … The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena…”

— Teddy Roosevelt

After graduating from The University of the South at Sewanee in 1997, I moved to Nashville and joined Eakin and Smith. Nashville was a different city back then but, just like today, it was growing exponentially, and I was excited to be a part of it. For 14 years I worked for the same group under a whole host of national brokerage platforms including Cushman and Wakefield, Colliers International, Highwoods Properties, and Cassidy Turley.

After all those years working under large corporations, I knew that I wanted to do something different. I wanted to be able to offer my clients services reminiscent of those larger corporations but provide them with the quality and flexibility found in a smaller, more personable, boutique commercial real estate firm. So, Equitable came to be.

My partners and I have spent time cultivating a team of seasoned, local brokers with national expertise and providing them with a platform to collaborate and creatively problem solve. Our varied backgrounds bring us a diverse client base, requiring that we work together to tailor custom solutions to individual client needs, no matter what those needs may be.

Much of my time is spent serving organizations that I’m passionate about. I am on the board of The Patriot Foundation, which raises college scholarship funds for the children of our military’s wounded and fallen, and I’m a class representative for Woodberry Forest school (‘93) and Sewanee (‘97). When not working or volunteering you can find me traveling and outdoors with my family—wife Laura (co-founder of Circa Design) and our two boys Thornton and Clay.
